20세기 역사학의 패러다임 전환: 아날학파의 사상적 계보와 방법론적 진화

This paper analyzes the fundamental paradigm shift in twentieth-century historiography through an examination of the Annales School's intellectual genealogy, formation process, and generational development initiated by Marc Bloch and Lucien Febvre in 1929. The Annales School revolutionized historical methodology by critiquing traditional political and event-centered narratives and introducing new concepts such as longue durée, total history, and interdisciplinary approaches, thereby redefining the epistemology of historiography. Tracing the evolution from the first generation's structural approach through Braudel's multilayered temporality, the third generation's history of mentalities, to the fourth generation's history of sensations and representations, this paper demonstrates how the Annales School continuously expanded the horizons of historical inquiry through tensions between structure and agency, totality and interpretation. This intellectual trajectory constitutes an essential methodological asset for understanding and critically reflecting upon the contemporary digital age.
