외국어로서의 한국어학에서 중의적 표현의 유형, 특성 및 교육적 적용

본 연구는 외국어로서의 한국어학 개론 과목의 학습 내용을 바탕으로 중의적 표현의 개념, 성립 조건 및 유형을 체계적으로 분석하고 한국어교육에의 적용 방안을 제시한다. 중의적 표현은 하나의 언어 형식이 2개 이상의 구별되는 의미로 해석되는 현상으로, 의미가 선택되는 층위에 따라 어휘적 중의성, 통사적 중의성, 작용역 중의성, 화용적 중의성으로 분류된다. 어휘적 중의성은 동음이의어, 다의어, 동사의 상적 속성에서 발생하며, 통사적 중의성은 수식 관계, 접속 관계, 생략 성분의 연결 방식의 불확실성에서 기인한다. 작용역 중의성은 부정 표현과 수량 표현의 적용 범위에 의해 형성되고, 화용적 중의성은 발화 상황과 화자의 의도에 따라 문자적 의미와 실제 기능이 달라질 때 발생한다. 외국인 학습자는 문맥과 발화 상황을 근거로 적절한 의미를 선택하는 능력이 필요하며, 한국어교육에서는 어휘와 문법과 담화를 통합한 단계적 교육을 통해 학습자의 의사소통 능력을 향상시켜야 한다. 중의성 해소 활동, 상황 비교 학습, 역할극 활동 등의 교육 방법은 학습자가 한국어 표현의 창의성과 맥락 의존성을 이해하도록 도울 수 있다.

This study systematically analyzes the concept, conditions, and types of ambiguous expressions in Korean as a Foreign Language (KFL) and presents educational applications. Ambiguous expressions are phenomena where a single linguistic form can be interpreted with two or more distinct meanings, classified into lexical ambiguity, syntactic ambiguity, scope ambiguity, and pragmatic ambiguity based on the level at which meaning is selected. Lexical ambiguity arises from homonyms, polysemy, and aspectual properties of verbs. Syntactic ambiguity stems from uncertainty in modification relationships, coordination relationships, and ellipsis connections. Scope ambiguity is formed by the application range of negation and quantification expressions. Pragmatic ambiguity occurs when literal meaning and actual communicative function differ according to speech situations and speaker intentions. Foreign language learners need the ability to select appropriate meanings based on context and speech situations. Korean language education should enhance learners' communicative competence through integrated, step-by-step instruction combining vocabulary, grammar, and discourse. Educational methods such as ambiguity resolution activities, situational comparison learning, and role-play activities can help learners understand the creativity and context-dependency of Korean expressions.
